I was greatly inspired by the KuroshitsujiII ova, spider's intention When Alois rescues a butterfly and breaks one of it's wings off in order for it not to fly away.

Love is very similar in the sense that some lovers are so selfish, they'd rather break the other person's spirit in order to keep them from leaving them.
